My experience at a Fulbright Pre-Academic Program

As a Fulbrighter, I had the opportunity to attend a Fulbright Pre-Academic Program for English for Graduate Studies Program (EGSP) at San Diego State University. It provided me with the skills and knowledge to adjust to American academic life, along with amazing students from 17 different countries. It will contribute significantly to my success and performance toward my master’s degree program.

I deeply appreciate the kindness, support, and collaboration of Mr. Vega and Ms. Renée, before and throughout the program. This program would not be as successful as it was without their effort and hard work to organize such a great program professionally and efficiently.

As part of the program, I had the opportunity to visit impressive landmarks. I visited one of the most amazing museums in the United States, the San Diego Museum of Art at Balboa Park. It was established in 1926 and is considered the region’s oldest and largest art museum. It was a wonderful experience that enabled me to know more about American history and culture.

I also had a great time visiting the House of Pacific Relations — Hall of Nations — in Balboa Park and learning about so many different cultures. The HPR promotes multicultural goodwill and understanding through educational and cultural programs.

Community service was a also part of the experience. It was a pleasure to participate in the promotion of community services by supporting the San Diego Food Bank Warehouse in providing food assistance and hope to thousands of people facing food insecurity every week.

Mohammad is a 2022 Fulbrighter from Libya. He studies Electrical Engineering at Tennessee State University. He participated in a Long-Term English (LTE) Program at at San Diego State University.
